# close

## [◆ ](https://docs.kinetica.com/content/api/cpp/classgpudb_1_1GPUdb/close.md#a9fa2598ab39f8f5295c8b7365e45fb20)close()

<table>
  <tr>
    <td>void gpudb::GPUdb::close </td>
    <td>(</td>

    <td />

    <td>)</td>

    <td />
  </tr>
</table>

Drops the SQL #name temp tables this object created, if any. A session ID given by [Options::setSessionId()](https://docs.kinetica.com/content/api/cpp/classgpudb_1_1GPUdb_1_1Options.md#a227d223b9d8e11256d8c10154bec1bb6) is not dropped: the caller drops it with [dropSession()](https://docs.kinetica.com/content/api/cpp/classgpudb_1_1GPUdb/dropsession.md#a87e3605b58acf4ec17c20a6d687e06a2). The destructor does the same, with a short timeout and no failover; closing first is what makes the drop reliable.

Exceptions

<table>
  <tr>
    <td>[GPUdbException](https://docs.kinetica.com/content/api/cpp/classgpudb_1_1GPUdbException.md)</td>
    <td>if the drop fails; it is not retried, and the server reclaims the tables on its own </td>
  </tr>
</table>
